After selecting a station, the primary chart shows you an overview of the ridership at that station over the last few months. The charts below show the effect of closing that station on the six stations that are most affected by the closure.
Turnstile data from the last seven years provided by the MTA, available through their developer website. Data was cleaned and combined to get an understanding of the ridership across the city.
Bayesian inference on the ridership changes following a shutdown or reopening within the last seven years to infer riders' underlying motivations of choosing one station over another.
Problem and Solution:
If a station needs to be shut down, either as a temporary change or for extended repairs, the riders that used that station may switch to another one. Understanding how those passengers redistribute themselves in order to provide the correct amount of staffing at those affected stations.
